Windows 10 has been a pillar of personal and business computing for over a decade. But like any technology, its life cycle is ending: Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. What does that mean for you, and how can Async help with the transition?
Why upgrade, and what are the risks?
Microsoft now focuses on Windows 11, which improves security, performance and user experience. Not upgrading carries several risks:
- Security: without security patches, the system becomes vulnerable to threats and attacks.
- Compatibility: recent applications and software may no longer run on Windows 10.
- Features: Windows 11 offers modern features and performance that Windows 10 will no longer receive.
How to upgrade
Most compatible PCs have already been offered Windows 11. If yours hasn’t, there are two possible reasons:
- Incompatible hardware: Windows 11 has new hardware requirements, including a TPM 2.0 chip and a recent processor. If in doubt, Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool checks compatibility.
- Windows Update error: if your PC is compatible, other problems may be blocking the upgrade.
In the first case, new hardware is needed: we advise you and prepare your new workstation. In the second, we fix whatever is blocking the upgrade.
A doubt, a problem or a request?
We check your fleet and organise the move to Windows 11.
